Covid Diary: Here's (part) of my COVID diary, beginning on March 31, 2020. The paper version started on sheets of scrap paper from my last day teaching live at Cooper Union. I would begin each morning with a centering exercise of drawing a spiral (then dating it). The centering exercise is like something you would do in a yoga class with your breath--to let yourself know that you are beginning. You face the paper, put pen to paper, and let the line spiral out. Sometimes I would try to control it, sometimes not. The days became months. Soon, I had to standardize the paper, from scrap newsprint to letter-sized copy paper. I'm in the process of binding all of the daily sheets together. When teaching online, I would begin each class with a "centering" drawing, too, so that we would all be concentrating on the same exercise.
